Main Accountabilities
To be an effective Team Member of a self-managing team, responsible for ensuring production standards are achieved within guidelines for certain key areas;

Output           – Production plan achieved on time.

Quality           – Finished packs within specification, nil non-conformances raised and all other quality standards met.

Unit Cost       – Based on 3 main variables: Line staffing, Hours overtime required, Liquid/Packaging Wastage

The Packaging/ Production Engineer has a key role in identifying production problems, considering alternative solutions and taking action to resolve.

  1. Will be required to be proficient and competent in all engineering aspects of machine operation, maintenance and change-overs.
  2. To provide immediate engineering support in the event of machine breakdowns.
  3. Teams will identify needs for additional staff resource e.g. returnable bottles, holiday/sickcover, and training courses and are responsible for arranging suitable cover.
  4. Team Members to ensure all relevant information is available either for immediate review and action or analysis by a third party.
  5. Packaging/ Production Engineers will be primarily responsible for the review of downtime records, identification of trends and formulating proposals for performance improvements.
  6. Ensure all Health and Safety risks are identified and remedied where possible, and Team Members comply with all relevant Company Policies.  Housekeeping standards are maintained to an acceptable level.
  7. Continuously seek opportunities to improve current working methods and team Standards.
  8. To provide the necessary training to develop Operator awareness of the engineering aspects of machine operation, and involvement of Operators in machine change-overs.
  9. Team Members to ensure effective communications with other members of the team, other Operating Teams and Functional Manager (e.g. Warehouse, Process or Engineering Teams).
  10. To carry out Engineering duties within the Engineering Core Teams when their Packaging responsibilities have been fulfilled.

a)     LEVELS OF AUTHORITY

  1. Authorised to stop production in the event of quality or safety concerns.
  2. Authorised to take necessary operating decisions, within previously agreed guidelines, to enable team objectives to be achieved.
